Overview  ~ Caring, Age-friendly Community ~ Message From Director Kent Ellsworth

Who we are

Mission

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition commits to supporting and encouraging older adults in their quest to age in place in their community of choice by enhancing their independence, promoting higher quality of life, and reducing barriers to happiness, making the Verde Valley an attractive and sustainable retirement destination.

VVCC accomplishes this through:

·  Community-based volunteer services for neighbors primarily through transportation;

·  Supporting their healthcare and personal life needs; and

·  Offering programs to address their holistic requirements for physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Summary

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition is a community-based 501 (c) (3) nonprofit established in 1992 to solve the critical social issue of older adults living alone without family or friends to help assist them with activities crucial to their independence so they can remain in their homes.

All of VVCC's services to its clients are provided at no cost to them by dedicated volunteers throughout the Verde Valley. Over 300 volunteers provide assistive services that include: transportation to medical and other appointments, rides to the grocery store, shopping, and other errands, business assistance such as bill paying and sorting, and handy person help. Volunteers also provide respite assistance to in-home caregivers and patient scribe assistance during medical appointments.

Volunteers also conduct activities to ensure clients are regularly visited and stay connected through friendly visits, phone calling, and e-mail buddy. Guardian Angel Medical Alert units are loaned to nearly 920 households, helping older adults, helping them stay connected in case of an emergency.

A Caring age-friendly community

Creating a caring community for older adults in need

At  Verde Valley Caregivers, we are giving the very senior members of the Verde Valley better access to the community around us. These seniors are our "neighbors."

We  are engaging individuals, businesses, local governments, organizations,  and schools, to help provide  assistive services so our neighbors can  live independently in their homes for as long as possible.

All  of our neighbor services are provided by over 300 dedicated volunteers  throughout the Verde Valley. In addition to individuals, we have  engaged church groups and high school students.

Sometimes one needs a friendly visit.

Message from Kent Ellsworth

All of us at Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition – staff, board, and volunteers – are driven by a passion for our purpose; to serve older adults who need assistance to maintain connected independence as they experience the challenges of aging in place in our communities. No senior will be left in isolation to face the challenges presented by advanced age, health conditions, and socio-economic struggles. We are here and we pledge to do all we can to find solutions to bring dignity and quality back into their lives.

We all exist in a world of difficult and seemingly insurmountable challenges, a world where most focus on limitations as a rationale for doing nothing to solve problems. Not here – not at Verde Valley Caregivers! We listen and we respond. Every dollar contributed by our donors, every dollar from foundations and other grantors, support changing the lives of the older adults we serve.

Our magnificent staff and volunteer team, with  300  volunteers, multiplies the benefits your donations can achieve many times over. We are passionate about our mission, we are efficient, and most importantly, we are highly effective in bettering the lives of over  1,800  older adults every year!

I invite you to choose the difference you would like to make through your support and/or volunteerism. Please take a moment to learn more about us and let us know how you can help.

We look forward to hearing from you!

With kind regards,

Kent Ellsworth
