Thank you

Thanks to these volunteers who helped make our recognition event a success:

Jo Marco for drumming up terrific door prizes.

Beverly O’Brien and Renee Turolla for helping with set up and checking everyone in at the door.

Chuck Marr for serving as photographer.

Joyce Kaye for creating the slide show on the website.

We would also like to thank the staff at the Village of Oakcreek Country Club for helping us make it a smooth event – and for a delicious lunch!

Magical Volunteers Celebrate!

BalloonsThank you to everyone who attended our Volunteer Recognition Party last Thursday at the Village of Oak Creek Country Club. Nearly one hundred volunteers – and a couple visitors – celebrated who we are as volunteers and the miracles we witness through our service with Verde Valley Caregivers.

Magical Michael made the rounds as we enjoyed a terrific lunch and then wowed us with amazing yo-yo tricks. Kent reviewed the tremendous volume of service in each category as we raised our hands to show our participation. It was great to look around the room and see who is serving in each way.

Roger led everyone in telling our miracle stories of volunteering, and challenged storytellers to briefly write-up their tale and send it in for posting on the website. Click here to read the first one!

VVCC Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon 2012Kent and Roger reviewed what’s new and what’s coming – including info about Care Transitions, the website, and e-newsletter, and Volunteer U. Board Member Jo shared developments with our Pay Forward Merchant fundraiser, and we wrapped up with raffling off a half-ton of donated prizes.

Thank you for your positive comments and suggestions about the event. We enjoyed the energy in the room, appreciated putting faces with names, and enjoyed the stories. Let’s not wait a full year before we gather again!

Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Update

We’ll be celebrating ourselves and the work we do on Thursday, April 19th, at the Oak Creek Country Club, from noon til 1:30. Doors open at 11:30, so plan to come a little early to chat.

The theme for the day is “Magical Volunteers.” Expect magical food and magical entertainment. The program is mostly interactive so we can take a few moments to share who we are and what makes the service we provide magical.

Our volunteers are a fun bunch, so we want to provide an opportunity to be ourselves and enjoy each others company.

Please RSVP by calling the office (204-1238). We’re up to nearly a hundred attendees and we’ll need to give a head count for food in less than a week.

By the way, here’s how you get to Oak Creek Country Club:

  • Head to VOC.
  • The Club is on Bell Rock Road, in the middle of the golf course – you can’t miss it.
  • If you’re coming from Sedona, Bell Rock Road is the first roundabout – just exit the rounder to your right and remember to wake up after you cross the second speed hump – The Club will be on your right after you pass the tennis courts.
  • If you’re coming to VOC via I-17 or Beaverhead Flat Road, you can get to Bell Rock Road from Verde Valley School Road, which is the second roundabout – just exit the rounder to your left and proceed about one mile to the first stop sign – take a right and you’ll be on Bell Rock Road. Wake up when you hit the second speed hump – The Club is on your left.

If you’re concerned about parking, come early – doors open at 11:30. See you there!
