Grant Received

Thanks to The Arizona Republic/12 News Season for Sharing for their generous $5000 grant in support of our Care Transitions Program!

This contribution will enable our Care Transitions Team to implement a pilot program to help older adults by providing much-needed support services immediately after their discharge from one of our local hospitals.

Here’s a photo of our Executive Director, Kent Ellsworth, appearing on Channel 12 News to explain the program.

Please contact if you’d like to participate in our Care Transitions Program!

Magical Volunteers Celebrate!

BalloonsThank you to everyone who attended our Volunteer Recognition Party last Thursday at the Village of Oak Creek Country Club. Nearly one hundred volunteers – and a couple visitors – celebrated who we are as volunteers and the miracles we witness through our service with Verde Valley Caregivers.

Magical Michael made the rounds as we enjoyed a terrific lunch and then wowed us with amazing yo-yo tricks. Kent reviewed the tremendous volume of service in each category as we raised our hands to show our participation. It was great to look around the room and see who is serving in each way.

Roger led everyone in telling our miracle stories of volunteering, and challenged storytellers to briefly write-up their tale and send it in for posting on the website. Click here to read the first one!

VVCC Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon 2012Kent and Roger reviewed what’s new and what’s coming – including info about Care Transitions, the website, and e-newsletter, and Volunteer U. Board Member Jo shared developments with our Pay Forward Merchant fundraiser, and we wrapped up with raffling off a half-ton of donated prizes.

Thank you for your positive comments and suggestions about the event. We enjoyed the energy in the room, appreciated putting faces with names, and enjoyed the stories. Let’s not wait a full year before we gather again!

Introducing the PAY FORWARD MERCHANT Program

Pay Forward Merchant

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition- partnered with National Processing Solutions - introduce… the PAY FORWARD MERCHANT Program.

Who is National Processing Solutions (NPS)?

Partnered with First Data and Wells Fargo – the largest processor in the world– NPS is one of the fastest-growing credit card merchant account acquirers in the nation.

  • Their transactions are federally insured
  • They are a leader in the merchant bankcard business providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to merchants
  • A+ Accredited BBB Member.

What Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition Does

Serving the Verde Valley since 1993, VVCC provides services to thousands of seniors and adults with disabilities, which allows them to stay in their homes and enjoy their community.

  • More than 240 active volunteers
  • Guardian Angel alert system installation
  • Will assist at least 1,500 older adults this year
  • All this – and more – is provided at NO CHARGE.

Why the PAY FORWARD MERCHANT Program is Necessary

The Pay Forward Merchant Program helps fund Verde Valley Caregivers’ vital services.

  • As a merchant, enrolling in this program will assist older adults in need in your community
  • Your enrollment will be noticed by 4,500+ constituents of VVCC and your business will be acknowledged on the VVCC website
  • The 240+ VVCC volunteers and 1,500 clients will be encouraged to patronize your business and we will remind them of your partnership via our monthly e-newsletter.

How It Works

  • Sign up for processing with NPS
  • NPS guarantees your costs will NOT increase and in most cases will DECREASE
  • Instead of all of the fees you pay going into a bank’s pocket, HALF of the profit will go back to the VVCC
  • No contracts necessary.

Contact Kent Ellsworth, VVCC Executive Director, at 928.204.1238 to arrange a presentation.

Contact Eric Meyers, of NPS, at 928.634.3761 to enroll in the Program.

Holiday wishes fulfilled for area seniors in need

This article appeared in the Verde News on 12/20/2011. You can view it online here.

Older adults throughout the Verde Valley region will have a brighter Christmas this year due to the generosity of over 200 people who purchased gifts to fill the Christmas wishes of seniors who often find themselves isolated during the holiday season. Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition decorated trees at the Sedona and Cottonwood Libraries and at Wal-Mart with gift tags for its low-income clients. The gift tags listed simple wishes, such as warm socks, blanket throws, pajamas, slippers, soap and other small items.

“We are so pleased and moved by the outpouring of goodwill by so many wonderful people in Sedona and the greater Verde Valley. Every wish will be fulfilled because of their generosity,” says Kent Ellsworth, executive director at Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition.

Thirty volunteers have collected and wrapped the gifts and they are now delivering Christmas packages to 150 homebound seniors. Four Mingus Union High School students, all members of the National Honor Society, served as part of the volunteer team bringing gifts to homebound older adults.

Beverly is among the individuals receiving gifts. She asked for and received a beautiful white Teddy Bear and a lap blanket. Beverly says, “Thank you for this Christmas cheer; this will brighten my Christmas day!” For many, this will be the only holiday gift they receive.

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing services since 1993 throughout the Verde Valley. More than 200 volunteers provide services, without charge, to more than 1,500 individuals in need. Services include transportation to and from medical appointments and errands, friendly phoning and visiting, shopping with or for, business help, handy person assistance, and installation and maintenance of the Guardian Angel personal security alert systems.

Individuals may also serve as office volunteers. The organization operates the Silver Linings Thrift Shop at 345 Jordan Road in Uptown Sedona.

For more information about Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition or to volunteer, or donate, please contact Kent Ellsworth at (928) 204-1238.
