Angels on the Porch

I called Judy around 9 am as I was told she preferred a morning phone visit.  I had been told that she was emotional and widowed about two months ago.

Well, we got to talking right away and I learned that her niece in Flag is staying with her a few days which alleviates her loneliness.  She never had kids of her own, but is close with her nieces since her sister died three years ago.

I disclosed that I also have been widowed – it gave us a common ground.  She and I discussed how a widow has to be extra careful in business dealings….people do try to take advantage!  She was cute and told me that she and her late husband had five businesses – she was a decorator.  She enjoyed telling me some of her stories letting me know that she is strong in that department!  We had some good chuckles.

After a bit she launched into the fact that she is a “healer” and works with prophets – and is extremely religious!  I found this very interesting – she seems to think she has a gift to heal cancer and send angels to people who need them…..I was reminded of the “magical  thinking” of the first year of grief….however, I think Judy has had this “gift” for a few years.

Anyway, as I was categorizing her in my head and listening to her stories, I was feeling rather smug and also proud for keeping my opinions to myself…..blah, blah, blah.  I have to tell you, Judy all of a sudden was telling me she felt a very strong connection with me over the phone and that she was sending me angels in the form of doves to watch over me…..I kid you not, two doves flew into my enclosed patio right outside my kitchen window as we spoke! 

Now, I am a dyed in the wool agnostic….but spiritual.  This gave me major goose bumps!  This will teach me to “judge” the mental status of my “clients” – wow!  Whatever that was – it felt like a little gift….Judy and I shared some deep feelings about widowhood – and she sent me two angels…..what could be better?
